Frequently Asked Questions


A. When are taxes due?
Summer tax bills are mailed at the end of June and are due September 14 and winter
bills are mailed at the end of November and are due February 14.
B. Are there any penalties for late payments?
There is a 1% simple interest penalty for summer taxes received after September 14.
There is also a 1% simple interest as well as an additionally 3% penalty for both
summer and winter taxes received after February 14. After March 1, all delinquent
taxes are turned over to the County. Please contact the County Treasurer for payment

C. Where can I register to vote?
You can register to vote when you change your driver's license at the Secretary of
Sate Office, at the County Clerk's Office, or at the Township Office.
D. Who do I contact if I want to do any building?

E. When is clean up day?
In the past clean up days have been on the second Saturday in June and in August
from 8-noon.
F. How and where do I recycle?
The Township participates with the County for recycling. There are several sites
available. See the Benzie
County Recycling page for more information.
G. How can I get more involved with the Township?
There are several committee/boards to inquire about. Planning, Zoning Board of Appeals,
Board of Review, Election Inspectors, Park Attendants. Contact the Township Clerk

H. If I buy property, how are the taxes effected?
The taxable value would go to the State Equalized Value for the year after the sale.
Then it would be capped at the Consumer Price Index figure for the following years.
